Yesterday and Today - California Tour

The guys of Yesterday and Today recently spent a week touring in California. I went out with them to their opening night in Oroville and took some new promo shots.

They have a new set and lighting design that is absolutely incredible. One of my favorite things about band and concert photography is the lighting. It's like someone else is doing all the work for me. The scene is set up perfectly, I just go into auto-pilot and start snapping away.

The show has a big year ahead of them and I wish everyone the best of luck!

Scarlett's Baby Photos

Scarlett here is about a month old. She might be tiny but don't let the size fool ya! The girl is one tough cookie. She's already proved to be a survivor in her short little life.

Scarlett and her mom, Dawn, went through a pretty traumatic birth. Dawn said she had an amniotic fluid embolism which then progressed into DIC, which basically means her body was clotting wrong and not clotting when it needed to. The combination of those two things usually has an 80-90% fatality rate for the mother.

The amazing staff at the Nebraska Medical Center got Scarlett out in 10 mintues, but continued to operate on her mom for another 6 hours. She lost 2/3 of her blood, had literally dozens of blood transfusions - and survived to see her brand new baby girl.

I think it really meant a lot to her to share her story and have some pictures taken in Scarlett's NMC shirt. Every day is really a gift, and I had such a wonderful time meeting Scarlett and getting to spend some time with Dawn. I hope everyone enjoys these photos of this wonderful little girl!

Oh, the obligatory baby foot shot. How I love thee. What exactly is it about baby parts that drives people so crazy? I don't understand. For example, one of my nephews has the squishiest ankles ever. Every time I see him I have to squeeze them. But they're starting to thin out now that he's walking. It's probably a good thing though, else I fear he'd be 13 with that one crazy aunt who insists on pinching his ankles.

What were we talking about? Oh, right. Scarlett's feet. Get a look at this little things:

Dawn and Brent's Engagement Photos

Aaaaaand we're back!

This weather has been killing me lately! It has been in the negative double digits, multiple feet of snow on the ground, nowhere to go, no work to do, for about two weeks now. Two things have been saving my sanity:

1. An upcoming trip to California.
2. Brent and Dawn's photos

These two emailed me and told me that they wanted to do something different for their engagement photos. They're into music, they're in music, they just like fun...

So, we set out to have fun.

And take engagement photos in the process.

We went all over downtown Omaha and found a bunch of great - inside - locations. The first few locations we were loud, and laughing, and making messes. But then we went to the library and I felt like I was in junior high again. I didn't want to get busted by the librarian. People were studying and reading and doing things you're supposed to do in a library... and then there we were taking engagement photos in the biography section.
