C. Family Portraits

On Sunday, or weekend of bugs day two, I met the C. Family for some portraits. It was a combo family/maternity. They're expecting a new baby later this year.

Some shoots are kind of tough and some are a breeze. This one was definitely one of the easy breezies. I'm finding it hard to narrow down the huge batch of pics I ended up with.

We should all have such tough problems, right? It's not my fault they're such an adorable family...

Deb and Mike Engagement

I had the pleasure of photographing Deb and Mike last weekend for their engagement pictures. I also had the displeasure of photographing them in the biggest, nastiest gnat swarm I've ever seen. For some reason, last week brought bazillions of gnats out in Omaha. Throughout the session we would all have to stop and shake off our shirts.

They. Were. Everywhere.

Look at this picture:

(try not to gag)

But, bugs aside, it was a fantastic afternoon. Deb and Mike are obviously crazy in love with each other. They were making each other laugh throughout the entire shoot.

Mike was telling us that he saw what looked like two people making out in a large sewer drain earlier in the day while he was running. Turns out it was a photo shoot, not just random sewer smoochers. So, it was only fitting that they did their version of the sewer picture. It turned out to be one of my all time favorite pictures.

Blake and Family

Sometimes a shoot goes perfectly. And sometimes it doesn't. For instance... Maybe I meet a family out at a pretty lake early on a Saturday morning. And just maybe it's a little too dewy that morning. And maybe I drag my clients through the grass, weeds and mud on a quest for the perfect photo and they end up knee deep in dirt.

I sincerely apologize. However, I've found that the clients who aren't afraid of getting dirty are usually the ones who get the best shots. I'm just sayin... No offense to the neat freaks out there.

Grant's 7 Month Pictures

Well, my sister alerted me over the weekend to the fact that Grant is officially a crawler now. Next thing you know he'll be playing football and asking to borrow the car. And, if Uncle Matt (my husband) has anything to say about it, taking piano lessons too. We've already agreed that our kids will be taking lessons, whether they like it or not, in an attempt to make them well-rounded individuals and mold them into wildly successful musicians who will provide their parents with an early retirement in California.

Looks like Grant here might be a natural:
