I wish I was better with words because I would tell you how amazing it was to do this shoot with better and more through detail. But, I'm a terrible blogger so I'll just sum it up like this:

Getting to work with Jessica was such an awesome and challenging experience. It feels good to push myself at my job & create something new (and kinda bizarre) that makes me really, really proud.

Curt Grubb Studios

Want a peek into Curt Grubb Studios? Curt is a huge favorite among local musicians. Aside from being incredibly talented, he's also a really awesome guy and a started of great conversations. Give him a call if you're in need of recording an album, a voice over, or you reciting Poe dubbed over dogs barking... I don't know, he says people have been known to request weird things.

Yesterday and Today - California Tour

The guys of Yesterday and Today recently spent a week touring in California. I went out with them to their opening night in Oroville and took some new promo shots.

They have a new set and lighting design that is absolutely incredible. One of my favorite things about band and concert photography is the lighting. It's like someone else is doing all the work for me. The scene is set up perfectly, I just go into auto-pilot and start snapping away.

The show has a big year ahead of them and I wish everyone the best of luck!

Yesterday and Today

December in my house means a month solid spent at the Omaha Community Playhouse. My husband performs in a show called Yesterday and Today with two of his brothers and a few other amazing musicians. It's a Beatles request show. The audience members pretty much pick the set list and share their stories about why they love a certain song. The show is just ridiculous. These guys put so much talent and effort into what they do. If you live in the area you should definitely check it out. And if you don't live in the area, they'll be touring next year! They'll be everywhere from California to Pennsylvania.

I stopped by a rehearsal and took some new promo shots for the guys.

Andrew Jay - CD Release

What's everyone doing next Friday? Andrew Jay, a client of mine and friend of my husband's, is celebrating the release of his new CD that night. (I did some photos for his album! How exciting!)

You should come! For $7 you can get in for the show AND a copy of his sure-to-be-amazing album. Seriously, the dude is talented. And I don't want to sit alone at the bar. :( Matt has a show at the Omaha Playhouse that night.

Guitar Session with Matt

I had an idea for a few pictures I wanted to take. I needed two things: A subject and a guitar that we could ruin. My husband stepped up to the plate for both. I had never really taken pictures of him before. I've taken pictures of his band, yes. But never just pictures of him. It was... awkward? Maybe just a little at first. I find it much easier to work with strangers than with people I know. But on the other hand I didn't hesitate giving him directions. I can get a little bossy sometimes with him. He forgives me though...



Please forgive me for what I'm about to say, because I know it's going to make you gag. But I think my husband looks so hot in these pictures. Can you believe that? Aren't married people gross?



Just so everyone knows, that guitar was junk before he smashed it on the ground. His brother found it on the side of the road a couple years ago. So, no need to freak out. We weren't being wasteful and destructive. We were just reusing someone else's trash.







Up until two weeks ago he had hair down past his shoulders. We wanted to take pictures before he cut it since he had some serious Lynrd Skynrd going on and it would have looked awesome in the shots... But alas he couldn't stand having long hair anymore and chopped it off. He immediately regretted cutting it off. We both have that habit in common it turns out...

Moses Prey Band Photos

I went out over the weekend with Omaha band, Moses Prey, to take some promo shots. These guys have a vintage vibe about them so I wanted the photos to reflect their style.



They're a rock and roll band so I figured they wouldn't mind some grungy, dirty photo effects (which are a lot of fun in my opinion).
