Mindy and Tony's Engagement Pictures

Happy almost Halloween! I'm photographing a wedding tomorrow - it should be a lot of fun! I'm sure I'll do a couple posts with pictures from that next week.

Today though I have pictures from Mindy and Tony's engagement session. It was a gorgeous day out. Still plenty of color left in the trees... just a little thinner than the previous weeks.

They celebrated their one year anniversary together at Vivace's so it was only appropriate to stop there for some engagement pics!

I'm such a sucker for romantic black and white photos. I have to include one in practically every post...

Grant's Nine Month Pictures

I am once again completely and utterly baffled by this child. He is so grown up! How does he keep doing this every month?

Kim and Johnny's Wedding

Kim and Johnny share a very sweet story, and impressed me in a very unexpected way.

Johnny is stationed elsewhere in the world right now so they only had a very limited window for their wedding. We went out and took engagement pictures on a Thursday and they were married the following morning. It was obvious that they were very in love with one another, and I can only imagine being separated from a spouse for months at a time.

Their original plan was to have their small wedding down at the River Front. Wind, rain and cold weather unfortunately changed that plan. They weren't all that concerned about it though. They just rescheduled for something else the day before. How amazing is that? No stress, no freaking out. Just saying, "Ok," and moving on with your wedding day. That really impressed me. Too many times we lose sight of what's really important in life, especially when it comes to weddings. Weddings are about joy and commitment, and wanting to pledge your love to your partner in front of friends and family. It isn't about cake, reception halls, limos (although those things are amazing). It's about love. Plain and simple.

Congratulations to Kim and Johnny!

Melissa and Alex

If Melissa and Bryant got the less desirable version of Fall, Melissa and Alex got the good one. Warm, sunny... warm, sunny. What else can you really ask for in the middle of October?

Melissa and Alex were a lot of fun. They met me out for engagement pictures with their beautiful dogs; Chopper, Diesel and Cali. I think pound for pound, they might be outnumbered. It's funny that to me, my one 40 pound furry lab-mutt is "too much work," yet here is a functioning family with 300 pounds worth of dogs. That is going to be the basis of my argument when I talk to Matt tonight about getting a second dog. :)

Melissa and Bryant

There are certain chances you take with scheduling outdoor photos in October. It could be sunny and 75°. It could be cloudy and 35°. Melissa and Bryant unfortunately got stuck with the chillier of the two scenarios. The joke was that they were going to look veeery affectionate in all the pictures because they always had their arms wrapped around each other.

Kim and Johnny's Couples Photos

Oh, the weather in Nebraska. You never know what you're going to end up with. Kim and Johnny had planned on taking their engagement pictures outside, but October planned otherwise. We ended up going to the Durham Museum and got some really great shots. It was my first time shooting there so I was really excited.

This morning I also had the pleasure of photographing their wedding (also interrupted by the weather). I'll have more to share on that later.

The Irresistible Jude

I've been extremely lucky lately with getting really great subjects. For instance, this guy here. Jude is probably one of the cutest babies in the world. And that name - Jude - I love it. I was tempted to name this post, "Hey Jude!" but I figured that might be a little too hackish. I'm pretty jealous that he gets to grow up with a really great song bearing his name. The closest I ever got to anything like that was a movie about a murderous Plymouth Fury and the very awesome tag line, "Hell hath no Fury...like Christine."

But that's another post for another time. This baby was irresistible. I think you'll agree:

Maddex, Pumpkins and A Monster Costume

For the record, I will gladly go to the pumpkin patch as many times as I'm asked.

I met Maddex and his family at Pooley's for some fall pictures. Kind of a combo family, ten month, Halloween shoot. Tis the season! Although, those of us living in the midwest know that this last weekend was a little unseasonably... snowy. Cold. Miserable. I still had cucumbers growing on my back patio when it snowed!

Let's pretend none of this is happening and it's a sunny, crisp 55 degrees outside still.

I love this truck bed full of pumpkins. I want to hitch it to the back of my car and drive away with it. Two problems with that though. One - I would probably get banned from the pumpkin patch. Two - I drive ten year old a compact sedan. I doubt I would make it twenty feet.

Are you ready for this next picture?

How insane is that costume? I can't believe how adorable it is. The only thing cuter is when he got tired and his mom gave him his pacifier. A monster with a pacifier. It's just too much.

The Triplets and The Pumpkin Patch

I'm trying to figure out a cute way to introduce this post, but I'm coming up empty. No worries though, these pictures are cute enough on their own. They're of triplets. At a pumpkin patch.

See what I mean?

We went out to Pooley's Pumpkin Patch in Bennington. Despite the cold and winds, I think everyone had a good time. If you're looking for a laid back pumpkin patch that won't break the bank, check out Pooley's. Plus, everyone that worked there was so nice. They were very accommodating to the gang we had.

I love when a parent asks me, "Should I put my child in this wagon full of pumpkins?"

Yes, yes you should.

Family Portraits

Last weekend I met up with a large family to take all kinds of portraits. Large groups, small groups, kiddos, moms, dads... Outside of a wedding, it was the largest group I've ever photographed. It was a lot of fun. I have hundreds of pictures to go through but I want to give them some preview images to look at while they're patiently waiting for me.
